What is Embroidery?

Embroidery is the embellishment of a fabric with a design (graphic or lettering) in which colored threads are sewn on to the fabric to create the design. Much of the embroidery you see today is machine embroidery versus hand embroidery.

What is the Embroidery Process?

To the average person embroidery may seem simple. Load a design into the embroidery machine, hit start, and watch the design come to life, but the process is much more lengthy and complex.

The first step is to take your logo, message, name, or monogram and "digitize" the artwork. This is the specialized process of converting two-dimensional graphic artwork into stitches. Unlike some other types of imprinting, you can provide your artwork in just about any of the popular formats (jpg, tif, eps, bmp, etc.).

There is no magical button to actually "convert" your artwork; rather the artwork must be redesigned by a digitizer into stitches using embroidery specific software. Once recreated, a digitizer can set fabric and stitch property instructions for the embroidery machine to sew the design in colors, paths, and patterns selected.
When the artwork has been digitized the garment or item must then be prepared for embroidery by applying stabilizer, hooping, and hand placed on to the embroidery machine.

The final step is to transfer and load the artwork to the embroidery machine. The embroidery machine is started and stitches are created on the item.

Because embroidery is three dimensional, the results are far more exciting and visually pleasing than traditional silks screen or other imprinting methods.

Everything is done in-house by our experienced staff.  Allow about 2 weeks from the time you place your order until your order is shipped to you. Allow 1-5 business days for shipping. Ask your customer service rep about shipping options and the actual transit time to your address.

What is Hooping?

Hooping is the process of putting the fabric or item you want to embroider into a machine embroidery hoop. It is not as simple as it sounds. Stabilizing and tightness are very important. Unlike hand embroidery, the fabric MUST stay securely in the same position while the machine embroiders the design. Proper hooping ensures quality stitching.

What is Digitizing?

Digitizing is the recreation of graphic artwork into stitches in which specialized software is used to create specific instructions for an embroidery machine. These instructions tell the machine precisely where to place every single stitch of a design.

Amore Stitchery uses embroidery software that drives our high tech embroidery production line. This software is coupled with our state of the art SWF Embroidery machines and is what makes the difference between poor and excellent quality in our workmanship. With this state of the art software and computerized embroidery machines we are able to digitize and create your logo from graphic art to thread with excellent results. The recreated art is then transfer to the embroidery machine, which stitches the design according to the specifications within the digitized file.
